When you’re just starting out blogging, every minute counts because you’ve got to do what you can to establish your blog and get traffic flowing.
More than likely, if your blog is new, you probably are doing something else to pay the bills. It’s very common for new blogs to be the side hustle while it incubates. Meanwhile, day jobs keep the money flowing.
So if your blog is something you work on in your downtime, one hour is a significant commitment and you’ll want to maximize that investment in time.
What should you do with one hour on your blog?
Depending on your situation, there are a few options but I would focus on the top thing that brings you income, traffic, or both.
More than likely, that’s content. Content is king still and a new post can bring new traffic, build your domain authority, and if the post does well, as revenue.
After all, blogging is at the heart of what you’re doing.
Of course, this extra hour could be used to enhance your site in other ways. Newsletter, social media posts, or on page SEO optimizations are also really good uses of your time. Plus, you could probably work in a couple of those in one hour rather than spending the hour on a single blog post.
The bottom line is to focus on maximizing what will perform well. One hour is just enough time to push things to the next level.
I like to save lower performing functions, or even something new I’m experimenting with, for a day and time when I have lots of extra time.
Otherwise, use any extra time you have to push forward with what works.
